Present Winner

Jeff Cesta with Crab

Jeff didn't have his dinghy properly secured to the back of the boat after he came back from dropping some crab pots. Luckily someone from a passing boat yelled over, Hey - is that your dinghy floating away?

Want to listen to some John Prine? music

Past winners

Gary Sims "Slip Away"
Mystery Bay 2006
During the Survivor Weekend cruise competition, Gary literally went overboard. In racing to be first to the finish line for his tribe, Gary fell into the water while walking/stumbling from dinghy to dinghy. His effort was certainly entertaining but not rewarding.

Dana & Shelley Davis "Not Again"
Pt Hudson Marina Aug. 2005
When leaving the dock they forgot to untie one of their stern lines. Contrary to first impressions, Pt Hudson's docks are stronger then what they appear as they held up to Not Again and kept them from going anywhere or taking the dock with them. Their boat name is appropriate, too, as this is the 2nd time they've won the Screw-up Burgee this year.

Brian Nussbaum "The Summer House"
Friday Harbor 2005
Brian tried taking his dinghy skills to new heights. Unfortunately this maneuver resulted in flipping his dinghy over while jumping wakes. Although the flip was quite entertaining, it also brought out numerous 911 calls by concerned spectators which also brought out the police, coast guard, firemen, etc. after his tow back to the dock.

Kellie & Linda Hammett "Great S Cape II"
Hat Island
For: Not flying the club's burgee. You'd think a Past Commodorre would know better...

Bob & Bev Heiszler "B-Bob"
Returning from Canada
For: Running out of gas in front of the Everett Marina. The ironic part is they would've made it to the fuel dock if they hadn't turned back to help a fellow member's distress call.

Ted & Debbie Noggles "Unforgettable"
Bell Street Harbor
For: Forgetting to take the condom (get your mind out of the gutter!) off of the Club Burgee while at the dock. Unforgettable???

Dale Dennerline
Jetty Island 2003
Dale Dennerline had the burgee for many a month (which turned into a couple of years) due to hosting 2 cruises to Jetty Island but never getting his boat running so he could bring it there. Officially, he had to keep the burgee until he could actually fly it on a club cruise. This he did on the 2005 New Years cruise to Jetty Island which he hosted.

Dana & Shelly Davis "Not Again"
Dagmar's Marina return from Bainbridge Is. Cruise 2005
For: not tying both lines down securely at Dagmar's to hold their boat in place. The result was Shelley screaming to Dana for help as their boat floated out across the incoming lane.

Rick Tyack "Out of Line"
2005 Dagmar's
He left Dagmar's marina with his drain plug out. This is a novel way to cool the engine, but not too good for long term durability.

Karen Swanson- "Time 4 Fun"
Poulsbo 2004
for: her entertaining deck hand skills. She discovered pulling on a line that's not tied down securely results in falling backwards- in her case this was into the water.

Janet Jacobson "Happy Hour II"
Bell Street Harbor Marina
For: Falling into the water because she didn't remember how to correctly step onto her swimstep in an attempt to board her boat. Can we say "Inebriated"?

Capt Ron Pearce "Amazin"
Returning from Pt Browning BC
For: VHF radio conversations to fellow members who he thought were cruising with him, but in actuality were not as he was many miles away running with who knows who.

Jola Barnett "Busy B's"
La Connor Mother's Day Cruise 2005
For: falling into the water while trying to get out of her dinghy. Great form, poor technique.
